I have been seriously busy since my last post. I talked last time about hyper inflations (heres the page if you missed it), but now I am tackling this on a weekly basis and I am feeling like I am making progress.

I had to make a couple of investments to get me started, but they have been worth their weight in gold.

The first thing I bought was a dehydrator. This is great. I spent ages choosing one. The difficulty which I had was that the one I really wanted – I simply couldn’t afford. But I am really happy with my choice. I think the most important thing is to get the best possible one you can afford. The reason for this is simply because once you start using a dehydrator you will wonder why you haven’t had one before.

(for those interested – this is the one I really wanted)

Firstly, you may be wondering what you do with dehydrated foods. Well, there are two things, you use them and you store them. It is important to use the foods so that you are familiar with them and comfortable with using them. But the main thing here is to use this as a way to combat inflation.

Inflation is about the cost of living getting higher and higher without a corresponding increase in earnings. So the answer is to always buy as much as possible when it is cheap. However high prices get, there will always be offers, and you can save a huge amount with these. If you have a dehydrator then you will not have to adjust your daily eating to the offers, because you will build up stores which you can draw on when you need and replenish when on offer.

So basically, every time you see a bargain – buy it! Go home and dehydrate everything you are not going to eat in 24 or 48 hours.

You may find at first that you have loads of something you rarely use, but that doesn’t matter – for all you know that product may not be on offer again for another year – and if you have dehydrated food properly there is no reason why it can’t last the year!

So my advice for this week is to have a lot at two things. Firstly check out the dehyrators online. Secondly, next time you are shopping go and have a look at the offers, you will quickly realise that there are big savings to be made if you have your food storage sorted!
