Depression, Panic Attacks And Health Anxiety – Are They All Connected?

I am not sure how much you have already wallowed in this site, but I hope that you have found it useful. When I started the site I tried to write from a more detached view point, but now I have decided that the best thing is actually to write about what I have experienced.

I suffered from depression when I was younger, I was in very black places, but it was not this which came back to haunt me recently. My more recent experiences issues were panic attacks triggered by health anxiety. However, I did always feel that I was on the brink of depression. It was a precipice which I manage to avoid, despite having teetered on the edge for a long time.

Ultimately I controlled my panic attacks with both mental and physical exercises, and I know realise that this is what also kept my depression in check. I think that the process of taking back control in one aspect of your life can lead to the control creeping back into other areas aswell.

I have taken antidepressants before, and I was offered them when I was suffering from anxiety, but my wife was very against the idea and she believed that I needed to take the first step and to believe that I could do it without medication. She kept telling me that once I had proved to myself that I could manage without the medication I could go back and get it and use it to speed up the process. I now look back and realise that she probably would have found another reason later to not take them (she is a pretty stubborn lady). But she was right.

I have taken some of the ideas and principles which she taught me and put them into two books. The first is a short book of her ideas – the second is a longer version (which costs a little more). I have put them up for sale as kindle ebooks – the links are below.

Am I Depressed or Simply Sad?

Our moods and emotions are hugely complicated and sometimes things seems to get better, while other times they appear beyond our control. Knowing when to seek help is essential to staying healthy.

This book is about working out where you are now and understanding what that means. It is not a long research paper, it is a simple guide to help you evaluate your current situation. Usually your doctor will only have a limited time in which to assess you, this restriction can lead to mis-diagnosis. ‘Am I Depressed or Simply Sad?’ will walk you through various stages, including whether you should visit your doctor and what you need to establish beforehand to ensure that the doctor has as much relevant information as possible.
